In the Top 10 Organization Strategies, step 1 is to Create a Space for Your Business.
Without a space to call your own, you cannot function and run a productive business.
I don’t care if it is a corner in the dining room, a spare bedroom or a closet. You need a dedicated space for your business.
Where should this space be? Somewhere NOT in the flow of traffic in your home. Somewhere off the beaten path.
Take a minute and evaluate. Do you have a space? Is it in the best location? Could another spot in your home be better suited?
Once you have decided on the actual space, you will need to set it up with some necessary tools. A desk, a filing cabinet, phone and computer. Plus, a comfortable chair. You may also need some other basics like a basket for incoming items, and a vertical file sorter for your desktop.
Once you have your supplies, you are going to arrange them so that the items that you use daily are the ones in immediate reach. The rest of your supplies can be further away from your central desk location if you do not use them daily. Perhaps in a nearby bookshelf.
