Do you know that what you do today does not affect today? Instead, you will reap the rewards of your work from today 30, 60 and 90 days from now. This is because it takes a little bit of time to have the results show up for your efforts. It’s unlikely that your recruit lead will sign the first day you call, but that first call leads to an interview, which leads to that person joining your team. In my nearly 20 years of network marketing, and being in the top 1% of income earners in the industry – one of the greatest lessons my mentor taught me is that what you do today, DOES NOT show up today – it shows up 90 days from now!
Many times when we are in the throws of building our businesses it’s easy to get frustrated when we don’t see the results right away. Most of us (myself included) want instant results and are not very good at being patient. However in network marketing it is so important to focus, be consistent and be patient. Our business has a natural LAG time to it.
I have seen so many people work hard for a brief period of time and give up just before the numbers in their business start to work for them. Don’t you do that! Everything you are doing today – prospecting, presenting and following up is not going to show up today, or next week or even next month. It WILL however show up 90 days from now.
Networking is a lot like farming. You plant a seed, water it. Watch it. Nothing much happens for quite some time. Then you see a little sprout. And at some point in the future, you have a tree that bears fruit for years – even a lifetime! It may be frustrating to go through the motions, however once the tree is grown and producing fruit – you are taken care of long after you’ve stopped working. This is the power of residual results.
What’s even more amazing is that once that tree is grown, the seeds from the fruit it bears can allow you to plant more trees and duplicate the process into an orchard which could produce hundreds of thousands or millions of pieces of fruit! All by starting out with one single seed and a little consistent effort!
Network marketing works the same way! Focus. Sponsor, teach and duplicate. It may take you some time to get traction, however if you are consistent long enough you eventually will. Once you do – crank it up even more. Don’t slow down once you create momentum. Advance it. Network marketing can give you a lifestyle that is truly amazing for those that have the ability to be consistent and be patient.
Just remember this. When you get frustrated and things aren’t growing as quickly as you would like to see them – think about the formula given in the Old Testament: Seed, Time & Harvest. You cannot get the harvest, without planting the seed and giving it adequate time.
What you do today DOES NOT show up today. But never fear – it will show up BIG TIME in the not so distant future! Don’t give up!
