Yesterday we had a great time at our family meal for dinner, and I also saw an improvement on my gentle and quiet spirit goal as well. I’ve continued to call prospects, and read a book, and add to my Master To Do List.
So, today’s goal is to declutter. Now, I would actually love to send my entire family away for a week and declutter my entire home, but since that is a bit unrealistic, I’ll settle for decluttering one area a week.
Clutter adds stress and visually brings you down. It definitely drains you emotionally to see things lying all over the place, and it wastes loads of time when you have to go looking for something. This, in turn, reduces productivity. Whether it is clutter in your home, or clutter in your office – it needs to go!
This week I have picked the basement. We have a finished basement and it seems to be an area that everything just gets dropped in to. There are things that belong in our storage closets that didn’t make it quite that far, and children’s toys that didn’t get put away, as well as a bunch of containers (I love containers!).
Today’s goal is then to clean this basement area. I’ll put away the items in the storage closet using my Banker’s Box system, and put the children’s things in the playroom, and get a bag of clothes ready for Goodwill, which are also scattered in the basement on the couch (They were left there after we had a yard sale about 6 months ago!)
I must be careful, however, as I often catch the “decluttering bug” and once I am finished with one area will move on to the next and before you know it the entire day has passed! I know, I’m weird, but I like this kind of stuff!
Here’s to decluttering your home!
To your success,
Dr. Laura
P.S. If you want to get the step-by-step instructions for my Banker’s Box system, you will find it in my book Organization for Home-Based Business Professionals.
