One of the most important things that you can do to ensure that you will have a successful business is to have consistency. Consistency in doing the basics of your business. Consistency in showing people a business presentation (for those in network marketing) every day, or doing a home show (for those in direct sales) at least once a week.
For myself, personally, since I have both a network marketing business and a direct sales business, I do both business presentations and home shows.
Each week I have a goal of doing one business presentation a day for my network marketing business. In network marketing, the more people you show a business presentation to, the more people will join your team, or order your products. But, most of my business presentations are one-on-one either on the phone or in person (usually on the phone), and so I have a goal to do one a day. This usually takes about 30-45 minutes each day to 1) call to make the appointment and 2) do the actual business presentation. I use the company resources and have people experience my product (send a card) and then watch an overview video (online). Since I know my numbers (percentages of people who sign up), I know that 1 out of every 3 people that I have experience my product (send a card) will ultimately join me at some level. Therefore, with a goal of signing up at least 1 new person each week, that would mean that I would need to show 3 people a week a business presentation (on average). To add a little cushion, I do 5 a week.
On the direct sales side, things are different. In a direct sales business, the main “presentation” is a home show. This is where you go to someone’s home and present the products to a group of people all at once. They place orders, book future shows and some sign up to join your team. Since in this scenario, on average, you are usually presenting to 10-15 people at a time, you can show many people your products and your opportunity in a larger setting. This usually takes 3-4 hours of time. Based on my goals for incentives, and income, I hold 1 show a week, because (again knowing my numbers) that will allow me to reach my goal.
What’s important with both of these is the consistency of action. Without consistent action, you will not get the results that you desire. I know that, because of the law of averages, I can expect certain results based on my numbers (ratios). This allows me to plan and be proactive in my businesses, instead of just taking what comes at the end of the month.
Today’s goal was my weekly home show, which I am glad to report, went very well.
To your success,
