31 Goals in 31 Days – Day 31 – Come Home

WOW!  I can hardly believe it has been 31 days since I started the 31 Goals in 31 Days Challenge.  What a wonderful experience!!  I would encourage everyone to go through a challenge like this for yourself!  It is amazing what you learn along the way.  I’ll be posting a recap of the 31 days tomorrow, but on to today’s final goal…

Throughout this challenge I have been in awe at how many times along the way my priorities and activities have been confirmed.  While I have gotten many new goals accomplished in the past 31 days, both personally and for my businesses, one common thread came through, and that is my highest calling of being a mother.

For me, this means that cleaning will wait and my businesses will continue to grow, albeit at a slower pace than others, while I take time to perform God’s highest calling in my life, and that is a mother to my two wonderful blessings.

You know how you don’t miss something until it is taken away?  Well, that’s exactly what this 31 Goals in 31 Days Challenge did for me.  In many ways, it strengthened things that I wanted to improve as a wife and mother, but it also took time away from my family (mainly in the form of posting blogs, and a few household projects that my children did not help with).  And now, looking back, I realize that I miss that extra time, even if just an hour or two a day.

Time is something you never get back, so you must spend it wisely, as at the end of each day, it is gone.  Likewise, my children will only be the ages they are now, now.  So, it’s important that I spend this time with them.  After all, it’s why I work from home – to allow myself the freedom that comes from being able to put family first, and schedule work around that.

I am so thankful that I have businesses that allow me this flexibility and the privilege of  being a stay-at-home mom at the same time!  What a blessing to be able to see my children grow and mature, and to also have input into their character training and academic pursuits.

I wouldn’t have it any other way.  So, when you ask me what I do?  I am first a wife and mother, and second an entrepreneur.

Today’s goal is about coming home.  Coming back into balance.  So, after tomorrow’s blog post recap, I’ll go back to posting about once a week instead, and instead I’ll spend that time playing games with my little ones, or helping with schoolwork, or reading to them as they cuddle on my lap on the couch.  I’ll continue to streamline and simplify the way I do business, so that I can spend my time doing more important things.

I wouldn’t miss it for the world!

To your success,

Dr. Laura
