Day 15 on the CLEAN program, and I must confess that yesterday did not end up as planned. I had an event last night that I needed to attend, and because I was a little rushed (and a little not yet hungry), I scooted out the door without having my juice as planned.
Well, let’s just say that the event went longer than I had expected, and around 9:30 pm, I was very hungry, and so were my children. Because it was already 2 hours past their bedtimes, we did the easy route – the McDonald’s drive thru. I . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 15

Ahhh….feeling much better today for day 14 of the CLEAN program! Hard to believe there is only 7 days left! Despite my giving in to the pretzels and having an off day, this has actually been easier than I expected. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 18 days of eating foods that are more nutritional than what I am used to!
And, yesterday, my new Excalibur Dehydrator arrived! So, it’s all washed and ready for use. In fact, I am soaking walnuts and buckwheat groats for two different granola recipes (in my never-ending search for granola bars that . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 14

Back on track today with day 13 of the 21 day CLEAN program. WOW. What a difference. Yesterday’s sluggish feeling and extreme tiredness gave way to a complete revolt by my digestive system this morning! So, I guess wheat could be a problem! I took it easy this morning and noon, and only started to feel back to normal this afternoon. And, guess what? The energy came back too! (This is a good thing!)
Here’s what today looked like:
Breakfast: Berry Smoothie (only drank about half of it)
Lunch: Three Apple Larabars
Dinner: Lentil and Chicken Quesadilla
So, since . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 13

Today started off well, but I have to admit, I am a bit tired of smoothies. So, I decided to go out to lunch. By the time I got to lunch, I decided to give myself a day off. Just experimenting here.
So, I ate normal food today, had some nutritious things (like the salad for lunch, although the dressing had tomatoes and dairy in it I am sure, and corn too), and some not so nutritious things (Three Musketeers candy bar in the afternoon and a pretzel for dinner), plus a soda too.
The verdict…I am exhausted.

Over half way done on the 21 day CLEAN program. For those who haven’t seen what this is all about…it’s about my search for potential food allergens! Fun and exciting. But, really, I have been feeling much better. I’m looking forward to reintroducing each food type (wheat, dairy, soy, eggs, etc.) to see where the potential problem lies. It’s hard to avoid all of the common allergen foods, but I guess worth it, since in the end, it will allow me to find out what is causing my digestive problems. I’ve also been told by my doctor that it . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 11

Another crazy day in my home! Today was busy. Fun, but busy, and we had lots to do. Again, I was so thankful for the increase in energy and how good I have felt for the past 2 weeks. This really further confirms the suspicion that something I have been eating has been causing my digestive issues for the past 15 months. So, it is possible I am allergic to something…hence the elimination diet.
So, it’s day 10 of the CLEAN program, and almost half way through. Today was a good day.

Well, today (day 9 out of 21 on the CLEAN program) started out well. But, it went downhill fast. Here’s the full confession:
Breakfast: Berry Smoothie
Good start so far. The problem began at lunch. We went to a Greek Festival today for lunch, and I was thinking – okay, not a problem, I’ll just have chicken and salad and pick out the parts I can’t have. That was a good plan, but when I was served, everything got thrown together, including the Tzatziki and the salad dressing. So, I did pick out the tomatoes and tossed the pita . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 9

Another good day here, although I must confess, to be totally honest, I forgot to mention that I did have a celebratory caffeine free diet coke yesterday with the birthday celebration. After over 2 weeks without one, I just had a major craving and…gave in.
Okay, I’m past that now, and on to today.
So, I literally cleaned from about 9 am until 3 pm. I am SOOOO glad that I have so much energy. It was amazing. We had company coming, and I have two boys (well, three if you include my husband), so you can put two . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 8

I was reading over at Organizing Junkie today and came across a wonderful blog post that reminded me to remember my priorities.
And, I also was visiting Mom’s Toolbox for another great post about honoring commitments, especially those we have made before God.
Off to read my Bible. Thank you Lord for the reminders today to keep my priorities straight: God, Family, Work.
Amen.
To your success,
Dr. Laura

Well, I’ve survived my first week of CLEAN!! Yipee!! And I celebrated by making a raw cake (okay, yes, it was for a family member’s 60th birthday, which also happened to be today)! It was wonderful, and the birthday girl also enjoyed it (she cannot have sugar, so the raw cake was perfect!).
Today, I cleaned, cooked, cleaned, and took a break. Tomorrow brings more cleaning with family arriving from out of town. I am so glad I have all this energy! Yikes!
