It’s day 8 in the 21 day CLEAN program. We are having a crazy week, which is part of the reason I am just opting for leftovers. Cooking CLEAN foods tends to take more time. But, this is good, because the food is also less processed. Still working through some leftovers, so obviously taking a few day hiatus from the CLEAN regimen. I’ll be back on track tomorrow, I think.
Today:
Breakfast – Breakfast Sandwich
Lunch – Spaghetti
Dinner – Tea
Feeling tired today. Lots to do though as we get ready for school to start again as well. . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 8

It’s day 7 in the 21 day CLEAN program. Still had some leftovers to deal with today, so today’s menu was all leftovers, and not CLEAN. I must say, that I still can notice a difference with today being less energy (because of the food, no doubt), and also feeling more sluggish in general.
Here’s what I ate today:
Breakfast – none
Lunch – Salad with Chicken
Dinner – American Flatbread Cheese and Herb Pizza
On to tomorrow…at least the salad today was good!
To your success,

It’s Menu Plan Monday!! And, this week is super simple!
Over the weekend, I completely cleaned out and inventoried my pantry and freezer. (Post coming soon on organizing your pantry!)
I found LOTS of leftovers when I went through everything (thanks to freezer cooking), so our menu plan for this week is:
LEFTOVERS!!
With children back in school, and myself on the CLEAN program (which I found leftover Lentil Dish in the freezer!), meals will be simple this week. Pick, heat and serve!
To your success,
Dr. Laura

We just wrapped up blueberry season here, and every year we go pick blueberries. It’s become a tradition. We are blessed to have two different local places to go and pick blueberries!
This summer went by so quickly, that we just caught the tail-end of the blueberry season (whew!), and so I gathered up my two volunteers children and headed off for a few hours of manual labor fun.
We picked for about an hour (and would have gone longer, but someone had to go to the bathroom, and there are no bathrooms there!) and this is what we . . . → Read More: Beautiful Blueberries

It’s day 6 in the 21 day CLEAN program. Things are moving right along. I have to admit there is one thing that I have found to be “hard” on this program. That’s food waste.
The problem lies with the fact that pre-CLEAN, my pantry was not so healthy. Moving in to CLEAN, I went out and bought healthier foods (and non-allergen foods). Since I am the only one eating CLEAN in my home, I am still cooking for my family from my pantry, which is still steadily evolving into a more healthy pantry (as one thing runs out, . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 6

Day 5 is here in my second round of CLEAN. For those just joining me on my journey, it’s designed to be a 21 day cleansing program, which removes all common allergen foods from your diet. Then, one at a time, you reintroduce a food to see how your body reacts to it. This allows you to detect any food sensitivities.
I am doing this because I have had digestive problems for about 18 months, and I want to find out what (if any) foods might be triggering a response, since often food allergies are presented as digestive problems.

It is day 4 of the 21 day CLEAN program, and today was pretty uneventful.
Just like the last round of CLEAN, once you start to get in the rhythm of the days, they just blend together, and become the norm.
The key here is to NOT focus on what you CANNOT have, but instead focus on what you CAN have.
So, I use this opportunity to get creative with my recipes and try out some new variations. (I’ll be blogging later on how I organize my recipes!)
But alas, today was just another normal day

Several months ago, I ran across a blog post at Heavenly Homemakers about making homemade vanilla. This sounded like fun, and a great gift idea too! So, I gave it a try. Here’s how to make your own homemade vanilla too:
1) Get vanilla beans (the cheapest BY FAR are online here) – I used 40 vanilla beans
2) Get vodka (I just got the cheapest there too! Took me a while to find the best sale in the liquor store, because I have never been there!) (I also found a post at GNOWFGLINS . . . → Read More: Frugal Friday – Homemade Vanilla

It’s day 3 of the 21 day CLEAN program. Today was another good day! I spent the day cleaning and creating a pantry and freezer inventory (post to come next week!) so when I looked up at the clock, I found that I had already missed breakfast and most of “lunch”! I was hungry though, so here’s what I had to eat today:
Breakfast – none
Lunch – Lentil Chicken Quesadilla with Homemade Guacamole
Dinner – Mango Juice with Cherries
Usually when I do the mango juice and cherries, I just blend them together (by the way, I LOVE . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 3

It’s day 2 of round 2 of the 21 day CLEAN program. All good here!
Here’s what I had to eat today:
Breakfast – none
Lunch – Chicken/Black Bean “Taco” Salad with Homemade Guacamole
Snack – Cucumber Salad
Dinner – none
I’ve learned to listen to the signals of hunger and fullness that my body gives (and God provides) as a way to signal when to eat and when to stop (a concept I have learned from Weigh Down). So, I eat only when physiologically hungry (my stomach growls), and I stop when pleasantly satisfied. I’ve learned that by . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 2
