Ahhh….smoothie, how I have missed you! It is day 10 of the 21 day CLEAN program. I feel better today as I’ve finished all the leftovers and stayed back with the CLEAN program today.
I was reading a blog post recently from the Healthy Home Economist, where she was talking about Industrial Food Sickness. Interesting concept. The idea is that when you start to eat more natural, whole foods and eliminate processed junk from your meals, your body adjusts to the better quality of food. Then, when you may have a meal out at a fast food restaurant or chain, or eat a more processed meal, your body reacts, and it makes you feel not so great afterward.
This has been the case for me as well, as I have eaten “on CLEAN” and then “off CLEAN”. Perhaps my body is telling me that it doesn’t like the junk?
It was also interesting to me as well, that those who are used to eating more processed or fast food will not have that kind of reaction, however, the processed food is still “reacting” with their bodies, just as it is with those who are used to a less processed, more whole food menu. So, damage is still being done. Food for thought (no pun intended!).
Anyway, today was better, and energy levels came back up as well. It’s a good thing too, as I have been a very busy woman lately! Here’s what I had today:
Breakfast – Berry Smoothie
Lunch – Lentil Chicken Quesadilla with Homemade Guacamole
Dinner – “Milk” Shake
