Book Review – Organized Simplicity

Organized Simplicity is the work of Tsh Oxenreider from SimpleMom.net.  I’m a fan of Simple Mom, so I was anxious to read Tsh’s book on simplicity.

Organized Simplicity is more than just a decluttering book, it’s a look at the “behind the scenes” actions that are needed to make the decluttering process a success.

The book is divided into two sections:

Part 1 is about Living Simply in the Real World

Part 2 is about Ten Days to a Simpler, More Organized Home

What makes this book different from other organizing and decluttering books is the information in Part 1.  In this section, Tsh takes a look at the effect of “stuff” on our lives, and helps you make a family game plan to overcome the “stuff” in your life.  There is even a little information about time management and money management as well, and a look at the rewards of living simply.

It’s this section that helps set the stage for the actual decluttering in Part 2.  It’s so helpful to enter into a decluttering project with the right mindset and mission.

Part 2 takes you through a 10 day journey in decluttering the major areas of your home.  The information here is typical of a decluttering project, but also has a few hidden gems that make the section worthwhile.

I also love the homemade recipes included for cleaners and personal grooming products, and a bonus is all of the templates and forms in the back.  These forms can also be downloaded at Simple Mom.  Lastly, there are a few common concerns for people who want to live simply and a pro/con comparison on what you can do.

Overall, I thought it was a great read, and stay tuned, because I’ll be giving away an autographed copy of Organized Simplicity next week!

To your success,

Dr. Laura
