Book Review – Sisters of the Quilt

You might say I’m on a Cindy Woodsmall kick…and you would be right!

I love reading series of Amish fiction stories, but really love when they all come together in one volume.  This is the case with Sisters of the Quilt trilogy.

Sisters of the Quilt is the complete trilogy in one volume, and includes: When the Heart Cries, When the Morning Comes, and When the Soul Mends.

As is the case with all of Cindy’s books that I have read so far, the Sisters of the Quilt series captures you from the very beginning and holds you until . . . → Read More: Book Review – Sisters of the Quilt

Book Review – One Bite At A Time

I became a fan of Tsh Oxenreider of Simple Mom when I read her first book Organized Simplicity.  And she has done it again with One Bite at a Time – 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler.

I am all about simplifying and I love to read other’s work on the subject.  In fact, I devoured Tsh’s book in just one sitting!

Although these projects are designed to be spread out over time, I have several that really resonated with me that I will be working on in the next few months:

Establish a morning routine (although I have . . . → Read More: Book Review – One Bite At A Time

Book Review – The Harvest of Grace

I was recently introduced to Amish fiction author Cindy Woodsmall when I read her book The Christmas Singing.

I love Amish fiction and Cindy is a phenomenal writer.  The latest trilogy of books for the Ada’s House series are fun, upbeat, and full of wonderful characters.

Since I like to read things in order, and I had read some previous reviews of The Harvest of Grace, which is book 3 in the series, saying that it was better to read them in order, I did just that.

First comes The Hope of Refuge, followed by The Bridge of Peace and the . . . → Read More: Book Review – The Harvest of Grace

Book Review – The Christmas Singing

I love reading Amish fiction and I am a huge fan of popular Amish fiction authors like Beverly Lewis and Wanda Brunstetter.

So, when I was given the opportunity to read The Christmas Singing by Cindy Woodsmall, I jumped at the opportunity…and was not disappointed.

If you love Amish fiction, you will love The Christmas Singing!  I was hooked from the very first chapter and finished the book in less than a day because I couldn’t put it down!

The Christmas Singing is the story of Mattie and Gideon.  Separated through life’s circumstances and reunited by tragedy…can they give love . . . → Read More: Book Review – The Christmas Singing

Book Review – As Silver Refined

As I am currently in the midst of one of the biggest trials in my adult life, when I saw As Silver Refined: Answers to Life’s Disappointments by Kay Arthur, I really felt that God was leading me to read this book.  And I was right.

I have never read any of Kay’s other works (which are many), but I will be reading her work in the future.  Not only does Kay do a marvelous job of storytelling and sharing things from her own personal trials, but she backs it all up with solid scripture.

I was so encouraged when . . . → Read More: Book Review – As Silver Refined

Book Review – Family-Sized Minimalism

Recently, I received a copy of Faith Janes‘ new eBook Family-Sized Minimalism and I must say…I love it!

I know there are many eBooks on the market about minimalist living, but what I love about Faith’s book is that it is focused on living a minimalist lifestyle with a family.

I know when I first started on my minimalist journey, one of my favorite authors on the topic of minimalism was Joshua Becker, because he writes from a realistic family-based perspective.  And that’s what I love about Family-Sized Minimalism too!

It’s packed full of down-to-earth realistic suggestions and ideas . . . → Read More: Book Review – Family-Sized Minimalism

Book Review – Rise Above The Noise

About a week ago, Mike Donghia from The Art of Minimalism sent me an advance copy of his new eBook Rise Above the Noise for my review. Having read almost all the minimalist books out there so far, I sat down for what I thought would be a reminder of what I already knew.

Instead, I found Rise Above the Noise to be a thought-provoking multi-faceted work of art. Truly. There are so many things that Mike writes about that Rise Above the Noise goes far beyond “just another minimalist book”.

Sometimes, in our busyness, we scramble to get . . . → Read More: Book Review – Rise Above The Noise

Book Review – Organized Simplicity

Organized Simplicity is the work of Tsh Oxenreider from SimpleMom.net.  I’m a fan of Simple Mom, so I was anxious to read Tsh’s book on simplicity.

Organized Simplicity is more than just a decluttering book, it’s a look at the “behind the scenes” actions that are needed to make the decluttering process a success.

The book is divided into two sections:

Part 1 is about Living Simply in the Real World

Part 2 is about Ten Days to a Simpler, More Organized Home

What makes this book different from other organizing and decluttering . . . → Read More: Book Review – Organized Simplicity

Book Review: Inside-Out Simplicity

In the past several months, I have read many books on simplifying and minimalist lifestyle.  However, Inside-Out Simplicity goes way beyond the basic “declutter your life” concept and goes directly to the heart of the matter.

Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist is the author of Inside-Out Simplicity and Simplify.  In Simplify, Joshua takes you on a seven step process to declutter your life and physical environment.  Simplify was one of the first books I read, and it’s one of my all time favorites as well.

It could be because Joshua is a normal guy, married, with children, a house . . . → Read More: Book Review: Inside-Out Simplicity
