I’ve always wanted to sponsor a child and make a difference in someone’s life. So, on Mother’s Day 2010, I started my Compassion International journey when I sponsored Christine.
Christine is 12 years old now and lives in Kenya. She is a joy, and I love receiving letters and drawings from her. She is quite the talented artist. Christine does well in school and I enjoy reading about her progress.

Help a Child
Since last May, I have had the honor of sponsoring a child with Compassion International. I have received many letters from the child who I sponsor, and I am often moved to tears. While I am sitting with many things, she is thankful that my sponsorship enabled her to get a school uniform. ONE school uniform. And I think of how I had to downsize my closet for Project 333 and am only wearing 33 items.

A few months ago I came across the story of a group of bloggers who went to Africa for Compassion International. I read their posts and followed their updates as their lives were changed by what they saw.

It’s been on my heart for quite some time to be able to give back in some small way. I’ve always been fascinated with Africa (one of my favorite books is The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver) and it’s on my dream board to visit someday.
