December Reading List

I’m teaming up again with Jessica @ LifeAsMom to share what books I am reading this year.

I can’t believe another year has come and gone for Booking It!  And this year I read 118 books – more than an average of 2 a week – including some major 1,000+ page books!  WOW!

Jessica will be Booking It again in 2012, and I love keeping track of the books I have read, so I’ll be joining her again next year…until then…

Here’s what I’ve been reading since my November update:

Book Review – The Christmas Singing

I love reading Amish fiction and I am a huge fan of popular Amish fiction authors like Beverly Lewis and Wanda Brunstetter.

So, when I was given the opportunity to read The Christmas Singing by Cindy Woodsmall, I jumped at the opportunity…and was not disappointed.

If you love Amish fiction, you will love The Christmas Singing!  I was hooked from the very first chapter and finished the book in less than a day because I couldn’t put it down!

The Christmas Singing is the story of Mattie and Gideon.  Separated through life’s circumstances and reunited by tragedy…can they give love . . . → Read More: Book Review – The Christmas Singing

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – All Around the House Revisited

This past week, I continued revisiting the areas that I have already done again to see what else needed to go!

I thought the easiest thing to do with revisiting the areas I have already done is to go in much the same order I have already done!

So, this week, I got tired of the office (and of the clutter from one of my children that was blocking parts of my office), so I went to the other parts of the house in a bit of a whirlwind.  I also spent a lot of time . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – All Around the House Revisited

Book Review – As Silver Refined

As I am currently in the midst of one of the biggest trials in my adult life, when I saw As Silver Refined: Answers to Life’s Disappointments by Kay Arthur, I really felt that God was leading me to read this book.  And I was right.

I have never read any of Kay’s other works (which are many), but I will be reading her work in the future.  Not only does Kay do a marvelous job of storytelling and sharing things from her own personal trials, but she backs it all up with solid scripture.

I was so encouraged when . . . → Read More: Book Review – As Silver Refined

Meet My Children

I’ve always wanted to sponsor a child and make a difference in someone’s life. So, on Mother’s Day 2010, I started my Compassion International journey when I sponsored Christine.

Christine is 12 years old now and lives in Kenya. She is a joy, and I love receiving letters and drawings from her. She is quite the talented artist. Christine does well in school and I enjoy reading about her progress.

Then came Travis. In March of 2011, I was thinking of sponsoring another child and was looking through the photos on the Compassion web site and Travis just . . . → Read More: Meet My Children

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – The Office Revisited – Part 2

This past week, I continued revisiting the areas that I have already done again to see what else needed to go!

I thought the easiest thing to do with revisiting the areas I have already done is to go in much the same order I have already done!

So, this week, I went back into the office…again.  I also spent a lot of time listing and selling products.

With the office craft table, I threw out 13 more items.

I also sold 2 more things on Amazon, and sold 103 items to local people!

I didn’t . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – The Office Revisited – Part 2

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – The Kitchen Revisited Part 2

This past week, I continued revisiting the areas that I have already done again to see what else needed to go!

I thought the easiest thing to do with revisiting the areas I have already done is to go in much the same order I have already done!

So, this week, I tackled the kitchen cabinets, and the fridge/freezer.  I also spent a lot of time listing and selling products.

With the upper kitchen cabinets, I threw out one item.

With the lower kitchen cabinets, I threw out 48 items (primarily expired spices…).

With the fridge . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – The Kitchen Revisited Part 2

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – The Kitchen and Bedroom Revisited

This past week, I started revisiting the areas that I have already done again to see what else needed to go!

I thought the easiest thing to do with revisiting the areas I have already done is to go in much the same order I have already done!

So, this week, I did the clothes, master bath vanity and cabinet, nightstand, top of dresser in master bedroom, and the kitchen countertops.

With my clothes, I threw out 7 items and put several more in the Goodwill pile.

With the master bath vanity/cabinet, I threw out 8 . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – The Kitchen and Bedroom Revisited
