Among my circle of close friends, I am somewhat known for my creative finances. One of the main areas of creative finances that people have asked about is my grocery bill. For a family of 4, we spend on average about $200 a month. Yes, you read that right – $200 a month, not a week!
I am creative with my finances because I choose to be, so that I can save and spend money elsewhere, and contribute to leaving a legacy for my children. Now, this is not a post about groceries, but the thought occurred to me . . . → Read More: Creative Finances

Okay, so you know I love rules (remember the earth-shattering, life-changing 2 Minute Rule?), and when I was reading one of my brother David’s latest blog posts, it reminded me of a rule that helped me be productive and stay sane years ago when I was writing my Ph.D. dissertation. And it’s still something I use today. It’s the 45 Minute Rule.
The 45 Minute Rule is simple. Do something for 45 minutes straight, with laser focus, and then take 15 minutes to unwind and do something relaxing. Repeat.
It’s funny, as I remember back to the 12-14 hour . . . → Read More: The 45 Minute Rule

So often we get overwhelmed by the sheer number of tasks that have to be done every week to keep our business up and running. But, the question you need to ask your self is, “Is what I am doing the best use of my time?”
This question is my mantra, and I ask myself this throughout the day to make sure that my actions are on track with my values and goals. But, how do you know if it’s the best use of your time?
Do this little activity:
First, write down everything you do for your business . . . → Read More: Simplify Your Business Tasks

Do you know that what you do today does not affect today? Instead, you will reap the rewards of your work from today 30, 60 and 90 days from now. This is because it takes a little bit of time to have the results show up for your efforts. It’s unlikely that your recruit lead will sign the first day you call, but that first call leads to an interview, which leads to that person joining your team. Read what industry leader Rick Hagar has to say about the 30, 60, 90 day rule:

I received an email from DeMarr Zimmerman with SendOutCards® today and I wanted to pass it along to you, because the message is timeless and relevant to everyone today. Here’s what the message said:
An excerpt from “The Strangest Secret”
by Earl Nightingale
“George Bernard Shaw said, “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, they make them.”
Well, it’s pretty apparent, isn’t it? And . . . → Read More: The Strangest Secret

Well, it’s that time of the year again! Time to reflect on what you have achieved in 2009 and what you will set as goals for achievement in 2010.
I love to take the week after Christmas and schedule some time for reflection and planning, since it seems to be a low activity week (for me at least!).
Here’s what I do.
First, ask yourself what you achieved in 2009. Analyze every area: personal, business, financial, health, family, relationships, spiritual, etc. Write a list of things that you achieved in 2009 in each of those categories. It doesn’t matter . . . → Read More: 2009 Year In Review and 2010 Future Planning

Yesterday, I was at a WBON meeting and we were sharing tips that have helped us through the recession.
There were several good ones, and a common theme was avoiding the media (negative media), and “choosing not to participate in the recession”.
I shared a thought that everyone loved, and wanted to pass this concept along to you. It’s about creating infinite time.
Think of the activities that you do during a specific day. Now rate each activity on how much time is RECEIVED from that activity.
For example, when I watch TV, I only generate 1 hour of . . . → Read More: Infinite Time

Throughout my 10+ years in the direct sales and network marketing fields, one thing stand out as the KEY to longevity and a successful business. That is … your LIST!
What does this mean? You need to create, maintain, add to, and market to your list throughout your career. It is one of the most important vehicles you have to create success, and it also needs to be taken care of. Think of it as a child. You have to take care of your child, feed it, nourish it, spend time with it, and help it to grow. In . . . → Read More: Your Business Lifeline is Your List

I am a strong believer in getting a good coach. I currently have a life/business coach and also a sales coach. My sales coach is Eric Lofholm, and he is also a time management expert.
